Pacific Coast & La Campana Natl. Park
Birds of Central Chile
La Campana Natl. Park is strategically located in the Coastal Mountain range of Central Chile. The very diverse gradient of flora gives us the perfect conditions to spend a day looking for some of the Chilean endemics as the Moustached Turca, Chilean Tinamou, the White-throated Tapaculo and the Dusky-tailed Canastero among a great array of passerines.
La Campana Natl. Park is also the home of the last patch of Jubaea chilensis, the southernmost palm tree in the world that is close to extinction. This spectacular landscape plus the presence of the Sclreophyllous forest will also give us the chance to spot some other species more associated to dense forests as the Striped Woodpecker and the Chilean Pigeon among others.
Some of the species that can be found in this trip:
Variable Hawk, Chimango Caracara,Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Chilean Flicker, Striped Woodpecker, Patagonian Sierra Finch, Grassland Yellow Finch, Rufous-tailed Plantcutter, Thorn-tailed Rayadito, Tufted-tit Tyrant, among others
