Enjoy a comprehensive and educational tour through the Lake District, the gate of Chilean Patagonia. Parents and children are going to have fun while they learn about nature and local culture. A special itinerary that mixes outdoors activities with educational experiences, perfect to enjoy even with the youngest members of your family.

We will explore unique and diverse landscapes, from snow-capped volcanoes, to evergreen temperate rain forest. From an island where the culture and the biodiversity will surprise you, to little towns that still preserve the charm and the cultural fusion between the European influence and the Chilean native culture.

Briefing about the region and presentation of the itinerary for the next days.
Transfer to a Natural Private Reserve at the Maullín River (25 minutes from Puerto Varas). Briefing about the Flora and Wildlife of the Lake District. Hike through the temperate rainforest (2 hours aprox.).
 Magnifying glass and binoculars will be provided to each traveller to discover the world of the miniature forest of the South of the world while we will have a soft hike.
Children and parents will learn about non vascular plants and they will discover the very unique birdlife that inhabits the area looking for the elusive endemic species of birds that live hidden in the forest.

After the hike we will have a snack and then we will visit the rescue centre for wildlife located in the Reserve. There are Pumas, wild cats, the endemic Pudú (one of the smallest deer in the world), Slender-billed Parakeets, the Magellanic Great-horned Owl, Grey Foxes and more. All these species are native of Chile and Patagonia and they were all rescued being rehabilitated here to be liberate into the wild once they will be ready to get back to their natural environment.

Lunch featuring local products (Children menu available): chilean lunch will be served along the shore of the Maullín River. Children and parents are going to collect vegetables for the preparation of the lunch.

In the afternoon the family can choose between a horse back ride or a navigation through the sunken forest of the river Maullín.
Return to Puerto Varas by 5:00 pm. Overnight in Puerto Varas.


A complete day enjoying outdoor activities in the National Park Vicente Pérez Rosales. We will drive along the south shore of Llanquihue lake and then up way on the Osorno volcano. The perfect conic and snowy capped mountain will be the starting point of a hike to one of the craters with stunning views of the Lake Llanquihue and the mountains around. In the afternoon the adrenaline of a rafting experience through the white waters of the river Petrohué (complete equipment will be provided).

Drive to the National Park Vicente Pérez Rosales and the Osorno Volcano.
Hike to the Red Crater (45 minutes, upway)
Lunch at restaurant on the Osorno Volcano (Children menu available)
Rafting through the Petrohué River (Class 3)
Visit to the Petrohué river falls
Return to Puerto Varas by 6:00 pm. Overnight in Puerto Varas.

Drive and ferry to the island of Chiloé
Navigation to the Penguin Colony Puñihuil
Visit to villages of Chacao, Ancud and Caulín
Lunch at a local fishermen restaurant (Children menu available)
Return to Puerto Varas by 6:00 pm. Overnight in Puerto Varas.

The island of Chiloé is a full cultural and natural immersion experience. The native roots are still alive through the myths and legends that survive in the island. The history of Chile and the Spanish domination in Southamerica is strongly linked with the history of this island. The unique architecture of the Jesuits and Franciscans churches, the simplicity of its colorful villages, the human scale economy based in agriculture and fishing activities capture the attention of visitors from all over the world that want to experience the life of an island that still preserves its uniqueness and that slowly is changing with the arrival of modernity. The natural part f the trip will be the navigation to the Birdlife and Penguin Colony of Puñihuil. Among different species of sea mammals and birds we will find the only place in the world where Humboldt and Magellanic Penguin breed together.

Accommodations, transportation and other included: 
3 nights in Estancia 440 Hotel or similar accommodations, private ground transportation, navigations, National Parks entrance fees.
Meals: Lunch or box lunch for each day.
Not Included: Airline tickets, tips, insurances and any other item not specified.
Minimum of passengers: Trips are guaranteed to depart with a minimum of two participants.

Equipment required: Waterproof clothes and shoes sunscreen, comfortable shoes and water protection for your personal equipment (cameras, lens, binoculars, etc.). Swimwear.

Equipment provided: Hand lens, binoculars, check list, rafting equipment.
