ITINERARY
Meet your guide at the Puerto Montt airport and transfer to your hotel in Puerto Varas. From there, we will head to the surroundings of Puerto Octay, on the shores of Lake Llanquihue, for a meal at a local chef’s home—lunch or dinner depending on your arrival time. You will learn about the German-Chilean traditions of the area and help gather fresh vegetables from the garden for our meal. This unique culinary workshop features ingredients sourced within a 100-kilometer radius and invites you to prepare traditional dishes that showcase the region’s rich flavors. Lunch (or dinner) included. Overnight at Hotel Pettra or similar
Today, we will take on a 12-kilometer hike through a scenic section of Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, at the base of Osorno Volcano. Along the trail, we will have clear views of Lake Llanquihue and the nearby volcanoes. The landscape gradually shifts from temperate rainforest to volcanic steppe, and then to the shores of Lake Todos los Santos. On our way back to town, we will stop at Petrohué Falls, where the river runs over old lava formations with the volcanoes in the background. Breakfast and box lunch included. Overnight at Hotel Pettra or similar
We will leave Puerto Varas heading east, taking a road that borders Lake Llanquihue until we reach the village of Ensenada, about 40 minutes away. Upon arrival, your guide will provide a safety briefing and help you get ready with your equipment. From there, we will begin a 35-kilometer e-bike ride along a paved bikeway surrounded by native forest and scenic lake views. If you prefer a shorter route, we can adjust the starting point to suit your comfort level.
Our ride ends at a local brewery, where we will have a short introduction to craft brewing, taste a selection of beers, and enjoy some pizza as a rewarding way to end the day. We will then return by vehicle to Puerto Varas (10 km drive). Breakfast and lunch included (with beer tasting). Overnight at Hotel Pettra or similar
We will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Varas and drive about 35 minutes to our kayak base in Ensenada. There, your guide will provide all the necessary equipment for the excursion. After gearing up, we will continue by vehicle for another 30 minutes until we reach the mouth of the Petrohué River. Following a detailed safety briefing, we will begin paddling into the first fjord of Chilean Patagonia.
This paddle—suitable for all experience levels—lasts between 4 and 5 hours and takes us through a scenic and unspoiled environment. One of the highlights of the day is a home-hosted lunch, where we will enjoy local cuisine, connect with our hosts, and take a well-deserved break before continuing south along the fjord toward Yates Volcano and the traditional fishing village of Cochamó. After the excursion, we will drive back to Puerto Varas (90 km), arriving in time for dinner. Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight at Hotel Pettra or similar
After breakfast, you will take a transfer back to Puerto Montt Airport for your onward travel.
