After around 4 hours of hiking, we’ll reach La Junta, where we’ll stop for a picnic lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of the towering granite walls and the impressive scenery that surrounds us.

This journey involves several modes of transportation. We begin by driving to Lake Tagua Tagua, where we’ll take a short boat ride from Puerto Canelo to Puerto Maldonado. From there, local trucks will transport us to Primer Corral.
There, we’ll meet the arrieros and load our gear onto pack horses. From this point, we start our hike along a well-marked and easy 15-kilometer trail leading to Rincón Bonito. The path follows the southern bank of the Ventisquero River and passes through old-growth forests, regenerating woodlands, open grasslands and rural homesteads.

The trail winds through ancient forests and continues into lenga woodlands, which thrive in the higher elevations of this Patagonian mountain range.
Along the way, we will stop at several scenic viewpoints, with panoramic sights ranging from the headwaters of the Ventisquero River in the west to its confluence with the Puelo River in the east. With some luck, we may even spot a condor soaring above the valley.
